In November 2000, shortly before the Columbia River Pastoral Letter was released, the World Wide Fund for Nature and the Alliance of Religions and Conservation honored The Catholic Communities of the Columbia River for the Sacred Gift for a Living Planet--The Columbia River Pastoral Letter Project. This Sacred Gift was officially recognized and celebrated by its sponsors at the Sacred Gifts for a Living Planet Celebration in Bhaktapur, Nepal on November 15, 2000.
