Were you ever asked to provide a resource to help someone in need? The newly-updated, Providing Help, Creating Hope - Directory of Social Services and Housing Facilities of the Catholic Charities Network, may be your answer.
The Catholic Church is the largest private provider of social services in the State of Washington. For over 95 years, Catholic Charities has served those in need in Washington State. Last year, over 212,000 people were helped by more than 20,000 volunteers.
Existing programs that can be accessed to serve those most in need include, but are not limited to: childcare and early learning; prenatal and maternity support; chemical dependency and substance abuse services, adoption and foster care; children’s mental health; emergency rent and food assistance; community meals; Long Term Care services; Volunteer Chore services; eviction prevention; Foster Grandparent program; African American Elders program; youth tutoring; immigration and refugee services, Project Rachel post-abortive healing program, and veterans support.
Catholic Housing Services provides housing units for individuals, families, seniors, farmworkers, persons with special mental and physical needs, and transitional housing for homeless individuals and families. In addition to providing safe, stable, affordable housing, most Catholic housing offers a range of supportive services to residents.
Providing Help, Creating Hope contains a section on housing and social services for each of the Catholic dioceses in Washington State: the Archdiocese of Seattle, Diocese of Spokane and Diocese of Yakima. This directory has a wealth of information, and can be a powerful tool in meeting the needs of the people of Washington.
