Catholic Advocacy Day - 2007

DATE:     February 22, 2007
TIME:      9:45 am – 3:00 pm  (Check-in starts at 9:15 am)
PLACE:  State Capitol (Columbia Room), Olympia WA
DRESS:  Wear RED to make us visible as a group while visiting at the Capitol

Join us for Catholic Advocacy Day, a time for Catholics to gather in Olympia to lobby our legislators on current legislative issues of concern for all of us.  Participate with Catholics from around the state in “Seeking Justice: Together on a Journey of Hope.”  Don't miss this opportunity to ensure that the Gospel message to care for our brothers and sisters is heard loud and clear in Olympia.

Before meeting with our local legislators, we will gather in the Columbia Room in the State Capitol building for prayer, a program, and a legislative briefing.  We will address current legislative issues dealing with matters of poverty, health care, low-income housing, stem cell research, the death penalty, and the environment (Click here to see briefing papers).  Governor Gregoire has accepted our invitation to speak.

Sign up now to participate!  Send your name, address, phone number, email address and legislative district information to ipjc@ipjc.org (You can find your legislative district by going to http://apps.leg.wa.gov/DistrictFinder/Default.aspx).  Free buses are available from Seattle and Tacoma for registered participants on a first come basis.

Appointments with legislators will be made for you after you have registered.  The schedule of legislative visits will be given to you during the morning on Catholic Advocacy Day.   (Click here  for a printable flyer (or go to: http://www.thewscc.org/news-folder/2007-catholic-advocacy-day.pdf )
